Message from the General Chair GeoGulf27 “United we Explore”—

The Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies (GCAGS) meets annually to support Gulf Coast geoscientists, our communities, and each other. The Gulf Coast is a fertile crescent of both above- and below-ground resources. With leading seismic imaging, offshore technology, LNG exports, innovative exploration, a vibrant service sector, world-class universities, research institutions, and both major companies and a thriving independent community, the world is watching what we do. With such abundance comes great responsibility. GCAGS has an exciting five-year plan to celebrate affiliated society milestones, develop future leaders, and meet this need.

GeoGulf2027 continues to innovate the GeoGulf model. United, we explore petroleum systems, complex reservoirs, and trap formations driven by tectonics and salt. Exemplary operators will showcase case studies and best practices of finding and developing energy resources in the deepwater, shelf, onshore, and unconventional arenas. We expect 400-500+ professional geoscientists creating unique opportunities to learn from each other.

Legendary Wildcatter Bill Armstrong will be our keynote speaker for the All-Convention Luncheon. While Bill has made discoveries in Alaska with potential reserves of 3.5 billion barrels of oil rivaling the E. Texas Field, he is not done. We will hear about his exploration plans in Aruba/Venezuela. Bill will moderate an exploration panel on exemplary Legendary Gulf Coast Wildcatters. Wildcatters young and old will have a chance to mingle at a Monday night party (thanks to Diversified Mudlogging).

The technical program will feature foundational geoscience by globally recognized subject matter experts and thought leaders. The Exhibit Hall will foster professionalism while showcasing innovative technology, posters, young professionals, and students. Expert-led short courses and field trips will focus on both new plays and the “energy of now”.

Presenters and sponsors have a unique opportunity to build their brands and showcase their companies. Attendee satisfaction surveys from prior years put GeoGulf at the top of Gulf Coast 2-day energy-related geoscience conferences. You do not want to miss this opportunity. Make plans now to attend and participate from April 18-20, 2027, at the Norris Center in Houston. See you at GeoGulf2027!
